Reading List

I read every night and have done so my whole life. Once a year I will suggest some readings that I have done recently -

The Alchemist - as an allegory for chasing your dreams

A Man’s Search for Meaning - a crucial book I read every year which allows us to suffer any “how” so long as you have a “why”

Diary of a Young Girl - a unique perspective on coming of age during the Holocaust

Thinking Fast and Slow - a summary of the ways in which your brain can be tricked in your day to day decision making

How to Make Friends and Influence People - a practical manual to use in social and business settings to revisit every few years

Farenheit 451 - an eerie look at a dystopian future where passive entertainment replaces real thinking…sounds familiar

Brave New World - last few chapters are an amazing explanation for why adversity and unhappiness are essential parts of our life

Anna Karenina - long but the final part is worthwhile for its discussion on religion, a quality life and madness

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - just a funny silly book

The Secret Garden - another perspective on how to tend and grow ourselves so that we can change and flourish

Hillbilly Elegy - the theme that at our roots, feeling like we “matter” is the first step towards greatness

Think and Grow Rich - another practical manual on how to convert our thoughts into reality and how this has happened throughout history

Watership Down - I missed this book as a kid, just lots of fun and somewhat educational about the life of rabbits.

East of Eden - best analysis of the story of Cain and Abel I have ever read

Phantom Tollbooth - a more educational “Alice in Wonderland”, my favourite book as a child showing that learning is what makes life worthwhile

Enders Game - more than just an entertaining sci fi book, there is also a unique commentary on media and political debate

Rich Dad Poor Dad - best explanation of the difference between working for a living and attempting to build wealth

The Little Book that Beats the Market - best explanation on what investing in at the most basic level and what you are trying to accomplish
